Late summer garden

This year we planted our own seeds as a way to teach Manny about growing things from start to finish. Also, I knew we’d be traveling a bunch this summer and I didn’t want to worry too much about keeping things watered. August 16th we still have tomatoes and carrots growing. Sadly the zinnias did not make it past the basement window. The basil was doing great but then suffered not being watered while we were away for about a week. Not too bad. The tomatoes and carrots are a little late because we got them outside late but maybe come September we’ll be able to enjoy some! Note the thirsty tomatoes right before we watered them. Poor things.
