Catching up

Hello everyone! I didn’t mean to leave this space so empty for so long, but the second half of May seems to be getting away from me. We spent a beautiful Mother’s Day in Maine, and then on to Newburyport. It seemed like weather was not going to cooperate but then the sun suddenly came through so we headed straight over to the beach for a little bit. It was the perfect day, really.

We celebrated Jim’s birthday with a trip to New Hampshire for the Peterborough Children and the Arts Festival which was fun as always. The kids loved it! And now it’s Friday and we’re heading into Memorial Day weekend. We’ve got some low key party plans in the works for Sister Girl’s 2nd birthday which is coming up in a couple weeks! Think ice cream themed! More to come on that. Enjoy this weekend and I hope to be back sooner rather than later next time.

Summer into Fall

Summer is most definitely coming to a close. We spent Sunday at Old Orchard Beach, Maine with some old friends of ours from Virginia. They are spending a couple weeks at their family’s cottage farther north in Maine and OOB was a good halfway point. We had not been to OOB before but were in for a treat. The beach was absolutely mobbed but we rolled with it and huddled in. Once we were there, it didn’t seem nearly as crowded as it did at first glance. The weather was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the company of our old friends, who we miss dearly. We were 8 in total, and back in the old days, it was just the 4 of us, sans bebes.

After the beach we made our way over to the rides. The grown-ups got a big kick out of watching the little ones. It was a tense moment as Manny measured himself against the ruler, but alas, it was a big YES for almost all of them. The bumper cars will have to wait until next year. Sister Girl was mostly too small for the rides but she did enjoy her first trip on a ferris wheel, and kicked back patiently with her ba ba while the big boys rode motorcycles and Dumbo for awhile.

Sunburned on the beach yesterday, munching the first apples of the season today. I suppose that’s what the end of August is all about. At least summer is going out in style!

Summer is off…

…to a busy start!! I know it’s not officially summer, but I consider Memorial Day to be the unofficial kick-off. We had beautiful weather here in Massachusetts. My sister and her husband, who are expecting their first baby, came to visit. Saturday we headed up to Ogunquit, Maine for a little fun in the sun.

They have been Geocaching and got Manny in on the action with a find right near the beach.

We visited Footbridge Beach for the first time. The Main beach in Ogunquit was jam packed and there was not a parking spot to be found. We got an inside tip from the parking attendant to try Footbridge Beach, which did not disappoint!

Monday we went to a Memorial Day parade in town and met up with friends with two little ones almost the same age as my kiddos. Ju Ju and Mac love each other and spent most of their time exchanging kisses. Very cute!

Monday afternoon, sister girl napped and the rest of the day was spent with Manny splashing around in our new $20 Toys R Us pool, and went like this.

Jim’s time away is coming to an end (thank God!) and life will hopefully be returning to normal.

Last but not least, a very special thank you to all those who have served our country, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Happy summer all!
